5 Steps to a Food Safe Handwash
According to the FDA Food Code, wash your hands and exposed portions of arms:
- During food preparation to prevent cross-contamination when changing tasks
- After touching any part of the body other than clean hands and clean exposed portions of arms
- After restroom use
- After coughing, sneezing or using a tissue
- After smoking, eating or drinking
- When switching between working with raw food and working with ready-to-eat food
- After handling soiled equipment or utensils
- Before putting gloves on for working with food
