5 Steps to a Food Safe Handwash

According to the FDA Food Code, wash your hands and exposed portions of arms:

  • During food preparation to prevent cross-contamination when changing tasks
  • After touching any part of the body other than clean hands and clean exposed portions of arms
  • After restroom use
  • After coughing, sneezing or using a tissue
  • After smoking, eating or drinking
  • When switching between working with raw food and working with ready-to-eat food
  • After handling soiled equipment or utensils
  • Before putting gloves on for working with food
